I’m based in Lancashire, and I’m a qualified counsellor with a background in the Health and Social Care and Hospitality sectors.
My interest in Counselling evolved from my work in the Care sector. I developed an interest in mental health from working with clients who had suffered injuries (including amputations), and serious health issues such as cancer. I also worked in palliative care.
If I’m honest, I always wanted to be a Counsellor, but I never thought I could succeed studying a higher-level qualification! Working with people who encountered and sometimes overcame huge challenges eventually inspired me to study and better myself – leading to Open University courses and then a degree in Counselling at a nearby Higher Education institution.
I’m now practising as a Counsellor and I want to use my life experience and my professional training to help other people who might need the support a counsellor can provide.
Working together through life's challenges
As a Counsellor, I am here to listen to clients to understand their current situation and work through any issues they present to me. I can work with people during particular times of stress or trauma, e.g. bereavement, problems at work, family issues, divorce, or I can help people at other times develop confidence or coping mechanisms to help them deal with the stresses and strains of everyday life.
I offer clients a holding space to enable them to be open and honest, without fear of judgement, about the matters that are important to them. Having worked in the care sector for many years, I also understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion. Ultimately, my work is about helping people develop the tools and strategies they need, whenever they need them.
As a registered member of the BACP, I work to professional and ethical standards to support you safely and effectively. Together, we can explore the challenges you’re facing, gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts and reactions, and identify ways to make healthier, more meaningful choices as you move forward.
I work with clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties. Some of the areas I can support with include:
If what you’re experiencing isn't listed here, you're still welcome to get in touch - counselling can support many different challenges.
Although I am based in Lancashire, I currently offer counselling sessions online or by telephone only. This allows me to work with clients not only in Colne, Keighley, Trawden, Clitheroe, Whalley, Chatburn and Skipton, but also with people from other parts of the UK who prefer the convenience of remote sessions.
Online counselling can be a flexible and accessible option - removing the need to travel, offering greater privacy, and allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home.
Counselling sessions with myself last for fifty minutes, and the cost is £50 per session. Sessions can be delivered via video (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp) or over the telephone.
You don’t need to attend any sort of assessment prior to our first session. Sessions can be paid for via bank transfer. Booked sessions must be cancelled with at least 48 hours notice, otherwise sessions will still need to be paid for.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me in the first instance.
If you have any questions about how online or telephone counselling works, or you would like to arrange a first session, please feel free to get in touch. Our initial conversation can help us explore what you’re looking for from counselling and whether I’m the right fit for you.
You can also call me on 07909009101 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak with me directly. I’m happy to discuss any queries before you decide to book.
All enquiries are treated confidentially, and you will usually receive a response within 24 hours.
